Bordeaux is the only city in Europe with wineries within its walls. It is possible to venture further and explore all the AOC vineyards by bike for the more adventurous. Did you know that by 2030 all winegrowers will have to be certified as an eco-friendly vineyard free from pesticides?

Walking through the cobbled streets of the old town St Malo’s feels like you’ve stepped back in time. This popular seaport destination offers an authentic glimpse into Brittany’s important seafaring past. Intra Muros, or ‘inside the walls’, is the most famous district featuring tall granite buildings restored after the bombings in World War 2. Enjoy a walk around the area, where you will discover several pleasant beaches and great seafood restaurants.

This area is also beautiful in summer, with mainly French locals exploring the hikes and cycle routes, it’s the perfect week away for any adrenaline junkie. From white water rafting to downhill biking, there’s something to suit all ages. Our favourite day trip is to head up to the Goat Village for a traditional french lunch before hiking down to Lake Montriond for a fresh dip in the glacier waters.
