Traffic Light System for Travel
Green, Amber and Red
Where can I travel?
The traffic light system has been put in place for England residents, so that once again we can travel abroad.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have not stated when they will ease their travel rules.
What is the travel traffic light system?
Following the Global Travel Taskforce report, international travel is predicted to start on Monday 17th May 2021 (TBC). They have introduced a traffic light system based on countries’ cases and what is involved around testing and quarantine. The infographic below takes you through the different Green, Amber and Red country requirements (as it currently stands).
what does the green, amber and red traffic light system mean?

How does the traffic light system work?
The traffic light system is based on a range of COVID-19 health metrics, infection rates and vaccination numbers. Variants of COVID-19 will also be factored into the traffic light system.
When will countries be announced?
Countries are expected to be announced on 7th May 2021 at 5 pm.
Who will be on the traffic light country list?
Please find the current list of Green, Amber and Red Countries on the Government Website: here
Do all countries have a traffic light system?
Every country has a different travel policy in place, and therefore it will depend on what their policy is on international travel. It is worth noting that some countries may be on the England list, but the country may ban international travel arriving and may have additional testing and quarantine requirements. The current traffic light system is just in place for England at the moment.
Will the traffic light countries change?
Yes, as things change around the world, the traffic light system is likely to change.
